World News Roundup
American politics is more of a circus than usual these days, and aside from distracting us from the really important domestic issues--the growing economy, but also this administration's total failure to rein in government spending and debt--it also distracts us from what is going on in the rest of the world. So I decided it was time for one of my occasional world news roundups, where I take a look at what's going on beyond our borders.
1. We Must All Get Behind Our New Al-Qaeda Rulers
Last week was the 17th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. For myself, I've stopped feeling the need to write articles commemorating every anniversary. I'm willing to wait to take stock when we hit the big round numbers. But I did notice a peculiar pattern to everybody else's coverage of the 9/11 anniversary: a pall of defeatism.
