"We" Are All Socialists Now
It's a little disconcerting how quickly the "libertarian moment" of the Tea Party era gave way to today's socialist moment. The dissipation of that supposed "libertarian populism," which has turned out to be more "populist" than "libertarian," is certainly disappointing, but at least this history provides some hope that the socialist moment will prove just as fleeting.
A long New York magazine profile describes how socialism is all the rage now--at least, among a very small slice of annoying young intellectual types in places like Brooklyn. It will either make you feel better or worse about the direction of the country. First, the worse.
