Good luck. My belief is that now that Trump is back out talking directly to people and not relying on the media, it will be a long, sad November night for anyone in blue.
I wish you well in your attempt to join America's only native criminal class. I doubt whether a classic liberal individualist can win a Democratic party primary, but it will be an interesting experiment to find out how it goes. Win or lose people need to hear some of the things I expect you will be saying.

I don't see this as a standing principle of the Democrats anymore than I see Free Speech as a principled issue for Trump. The Democrats were perfectly happy to see presidential power expand when it was Obama and Biden (or whoever was actually governing in the name of Biden) and Trump whined about Free Speech because he really just wants to silence opinions that don't align with his (though I think most have to agree that due to his influence, there is far less self-censorship and "cancel culture" is on the way out).
Nonetheless, I do very much believe that YOU want to rein in unlimited presidential power and will also have the integrity to vote what you think is right regardless of what your D party wants.
This is a courageous thing to do. As you said, you could just sit back and criticize, but you've decided to spend yourself on making our country better. You have my support. Hurry up and allow donations to your campaign, so I can back my support up with money.
The funny thing, I was a socially lefty, Clinton/ Obama type liberal , who thought I would always be towards the left side of my party. Then came the people who use the phrase "late stage capitalism" like they think we're gonna go whack the Romanovs😂😂. And I'm over here thinking, "guys......shit cost money, you can't just give people everything, policy inevitably involves trade-offs...". And so on.
I guess what I'm saying is, we met in the middle.
