The scale of what is available is impressive. According to this article, Coursera "now has over 28 million users and over 2,000 courses—which can either be taken for free or for a small fee to earn an official certificate—from leading institutions like Harvard and Stanford." But it is only a fraction of what I think is possible.
The question, in my mind, is not whether online education can replace or at least seriously cut into the business of traditional higher education. The question is: why hasn't it done so already?
