1. How to Succeed in War Without Really Trying
Since this will be the last of these Sunday news roundups until the new year, it seems appropriate to draw some attention to the least-covered story of this year.
I was recently asked what stories I thought were insufficiently covered by the mainstream media in 2017, and I could think of three examples. First is the Menendez trial, in which a Democratic senator was put on trial for corruption and came out looking like a total sleazebag even if the jury deadlocked. Second is the emergence on college campuses of totalitarian blackshirts who call themselves "anti-fascist" in the hope we won't notice. Last but certainly not least is the defeat of the Islamic State.
