I vividly remember about two decades ago a lot of fevered talk about the "digital divide." The idea was that only the well-off could afford computers, so only their children would be prepared for the new digital economy, while the poor kids--deprived of all that useful screen time--would be left behind.
Fast-forward 25 years and we find out that there is indeed a "digital divide"--but it's the opposite of what everybody thought it would be.
