As is my anticipatory contrarian want, I endeavor to make you think a second time, and even better, in this distressing, interesting time that try’s an anti-statist, statist Libertarians soul, make you laugh…not troll you, like the premeditated XXX Twitter star of his own anti truth social platform, performative graffiti artist, crazy rich south afrikakkaner, mad, evil genius, Heat Miser adjacent Trump Sicko fan Efluv Musk. Me thinks you would have already penned an article speculating Musks boot licking has more to do with his billion dollar bitcon investment and especially because his extraterrestrial Star Trek voyager space dreams to plant a proud flag on Mars…speaking of triumph of the will with other peoples money…but I digress, I mean have to lament when answering your 64 million dollar question in todays dollars..What in this political world could possibly go wrong…

Unfortunately, I woke up at 4 a.m. today and couldn't get back to sleep. This Tracinski Letter totally encapsulates what was keeping me awake. Sadly my totally irrational hope that Robert Tracinski could somehow help me see something to hope for was not realized--as it is irrational to think anything but that everything is as bad as it looks and probably even worse than we know or can imagine. The only hope can be that rational people--the very few that still seem to be rational--can somehow band together, or at least help us weather this terrible time. Certainly Leonard Peikoff is no ray of hope--he endorsed Trump--at this point I have very nearly lost trust in Objectivism.
Unfortunately, I agree. This is why I was so depressed after the election. All of this was baked in to that one result.
I feel like nothing can stop this man. I don't like to use the word "genius" about Trump, but he does have a certain evil ability. Trump has a genius for destroying and at getting away with it. He has a genius (like all bullies) for spotting weakness (in people and in rules) and successfully breaking rules to get what he wants. He has a genius for understanding Man's baser "instincts", including our psychological tendency to normalize lies after the zone has been flooded with shit.
I honestly don't waste a lot of energy on "hope" anymore--it's more about bracing against the next shock to my sense of human and political decency. Bracing so that I can keep my soul healthy for the next four (or eight) years. So I can at least get something productive and positive out of my remaining time alive.
I do get petty satisfaction from Trump's stumbles, but I no longer see his stumbles as cohesive threads building toward cosmic justice. Justice, if it ever came, would be too late--to the point that it would not even be "Justice" anymore. Justice for Trump is about 78 years overdue.
I've given up on Justice for Trump and his ilk. And, if I'm honest, that's what's most demoralizing. I don't live in a world of justice anymore. I feel like the Eastern Europeans must have felt during the Cold War. They sneered at Americans for being bright shiny optimists who didn't know how the world really worked. They "knew" how the world "really" worked because they lived under the threat of raw power all the time, not human rights. This is what that zeitgeist must have felt like for them.
Still, I do wonder if reality might ultimately hurt Trump. Right now, it feels like a fairy tale to think this way, but I do wonder. What will it take? MAGA infighting is my current favorite. Sky-high inflation? High unemployment? News and photos of children dying in the streets? What would be the breaking point for Americans? Certainly, there must be a breaking point, right? I've lost the ability to predict what it is, because I thought everything that's happened (including J6) would've been the breaking point.
And, of course, comeuppance is different from repairing what's broken. Even if Trump and MAGA take a fall, that probably won't erase the terrible precedents set by Trump's demogogic rule.
Unless, of course, something REALLY bad occurs. That might get Americans to reevaluate and steer away from demagoguery and tyranny. But something THAT bad is something I can't really hope for. It would be something too horrible to contemplate. After all, it took a Holocaust to burn "Never Again" into the brains of western civilization--an 80-year lesson that Trump has already convinced half of Americans to forget.
